Cook needs to get his R and D dept stoked up
The reason apple started to jump by leaps and bounds in the early 2000s to today? Because quite bluntly, Jobs was inventing new game-changing shit. Items that were cravable and became industry standards. But the problem is you need to stay ahead of your own blast wave. Because when your own blast wave hits you, you get caught up and trapped in the eddies of your tech with everyone else who is copying your tech. See any cellphones today that dont look like an IPhone? No. It became the industry standard. Now all phones are all touch screen with windows and amazing cameras and software.
Its not going to do Apple any good to come out with slightly upgraded versions of thier IPhone because everyone else is doing that. And sometimes Samsung who copied the Iphone, is making thier own leaps and bounds making the Iphone look boring.
The Road to Hell is Paved with Gold with a nice Easy Big Gate
And the road to heaven looks treacherous. So Cook has been steering his ship toward the easier gate. Slowly improve what we got, dont take any big chances, lets keep this ship on an even keel. Thats not what Jobs did. Jobs said fuck that, and took that wheel and cranked it hard to the left with everyone on board suddenly losing thier balance with the ship shuddering and moaning going right for the small tough looking gate. He drove innovation. He had in his mind products that werent around yet and told his people to invent them.
You show up first to the marketplace with a new product that everyone has gotta have and by the time that product is copied with everyone owning thier own versions from all different manufacturers, you turn around and introduce something else that captures the magic and all of the marketshare while Samsung runs back to the design boards holding your product attempting to reverse engineer it.
Cook has gotta learn navigating nice calm smooth waters ahead is no way to operate Apple.
